3SGE Beams manifold to suit quad throttles

This adapter facilitates the conversion to individual throttle bodies (ITB’s) sourced from a 4age 20V Blacktop. Machined from a billet aluminum plate this product makes for a bolt on upgrade that quick and easy to fit.

Advantages and design features

Throttle locating dowels now fitted to all manifolds sold.

This adapter is the result of multiple design considerations over an extended development period. Only after the concept was confirmed to have advantages over all others available and tested were they finally manufactured and released. Below are the key features of this product.

– Machined out of an aluminium billet: Not cast or made of plastic.

– Requires no custom modifications to fit: Bolts to OEM manifold base using the original fasteners.

– Throttle locating dowels: Just like OEM manifolds the throttles are positively located. Without these all the throttles require careful recalibration when even a single one is loosened.

– Port match: Near ideal transitions on the faces to and from this adapter (see photos).

– Port profile / transitions: No edges, changes in angles or anything but a smooth internal port finish for the least amount of drag / turbulence.

– Throttle orientation and linkages: Throttles are bolted the correct way up and as such the throttle cable doesn’t make a harsh S-shape to go into the cabin.

– Vacuum provision: Threaded with multiple outlets and comes with both barbs and plugs to leave the choice up to the individual.

– Light weight: Only 837 grams but yet extremely strong and rigid.

– Dual TPS position: Original or facing down to run the cables under the throttle for a neater look.

Compatibility

Although designed and tested on the Black-top 3SGE engine this manifold will readily bolt to the intake of all the “Beams” series of 3SGE engines, these include the Black, Red and Greytop engines. It will not work for the earlier non-Beams engines. The way to confirm is by looking at the original intake system- If the engine originally has a very short aluminium intake manifold base bolted to the head, a rubber vibration insulator after and then the main part of the intake manifold bolted to it then it’s compatible.

– Throttles and velocity stacks ARE NOT supplied.

Optional extras

– 90 degree pollution control valve (PCV) – as in seen in the photos: To clear the throttle linkages the breather hose needs to face forward or rearward. Use this option to keep a PCV or otherwise just use a plain 90 degree fitting. This also has the advantage in that both cam cover hoses can be run rearward almost completely out of sight and to either side of the engine bay. See the last two photos to show the valve as it fits onto the head. A very small piece of the top plastic cover needs to be cut to clear the hose, this is very easy to do and isn’t visible once fitted.

– Throttle gaskets: A set of 4 gaskets to go between the intake manifold and the throttle bodies.
